Over the next several months, the pharmaceutical industry will be reaching out to West Virginia’s community leaders and others to begin a conversation about the industry’s role in keeping Mountain State families healthy and the economy strong.

This educational effort is being led by the Pharmaceutical Research Manufacturers of America (PhRMA).

We are especially pleased to introduce www.wvrx.info, our new online clearinghouse of information that will feature West Virginia-specific information on the industry’s social, economic and scientific contributions that most people overlook, such as:

• Programs that connect those in need with discounted or free prescription drugs, direct from pharmaceutical manufacturers.



• Ways the pharmaceutical industry contributes to West Virginia’s economy and how that contribution can grow in terms of jobs and payroll.



• What we are doing to help your community – like the $55 million in products the industry donated to West Virginia's free clinics between 2004 and 2005.



• New cures and treatments in development for West Virginia’s most daunting health problems.



• What goes into the cost of prescription medicines – how investment in research leads to new treatments and cures.
